Youth Ministry at North River
The people of NRCC love Kids!
Though we are a small congregation we have a deep desire to see kids grow in a relationship with Jesus. We provide classes for kids of all ages. Because the classes are small, those involved get personal attention and are able to develop good relationships with the adults who serve them.
We are currently rebuilding our investment in teens as over the past few years most have graduated and moved on into significant ministry. A significant focus of this ministry to teens is to challenge them to live toward a significant purpose much larger than self.
Between the focus of our educational system, and the relationships developed within our youth ministry together this body of believers raises exceptional young adults for the Kingdom of God.
Education Ministry
Everything we teach from age 2 through adults is designed with a single purpose in mind.
We want all students to hold a solid understanding of what they believe and why they believe it. Jesus calls his children to learn what it means to be Ambassadors for the Kingdom of God.
Smoky Mountain Christian Camp
Sweetwater, TN
Located at the edge of the Smoky Mountains within hiking distance of North Carolina, SMCC is a great place for area teens to go for a summer camp experience.
Kids of all ages [age 10-20] attend from all over East and Central Tennessee.
The camp offers intense spiritual direction and encouragement, service weeks, wilderness weeks, great times for worship and fellowship, and even backpacking trips to the Grand Canyon.
SMCC continues to make significant investments in our nation’s youth, with a burning desire to see them grow in Jesus and become influential in the world around them for the Kingdom of God.
Tennessee Christian Teen Convention
Gatlinburg, TN
TCTC meets the first full weekend of January annually in Gatlinburg and has grown dramatically over the years. This year we saw over 5000 students grade 6-12 from 9 states gather for an extraordinary time of worship, fellowship, and just plain craziness.
This unique event is specifically crafted each year with some of the best Christian musicians, speakers, and entertainers in the Kingdom. The workshops are always custom designed to meet the needs of today’s teen culture. The convention is heavily focused on missions. This year TCTC participants packed 146,000 meals and donated $28,000 to HELP HEAL HAITI through Northwest Haitian Christian Mission.
Every facet of this convention thrives on her purpose statement:
"TCTC exists to pool the resources of churches in order to create an event which calls the casual, commits the called, and challenges the committed students of today's culture to a deeper commitment to Jesus."
TCTC is truly a life altering event. Various members of NRCC have served on the planning board and participated in leadership roles of TCTC for years.
