Marriage Mentors
As we strive to invest in families and build strong marriages NRCC is working to train Marriage Mentors who will come alongside couples to help them navigate the many challenges of marriage and strengthen their relationship.
Marriage Ministry at North River
“Though our nation’s lawmakers and legal systems may be attempting to redefine marriage, the laws of man will never alter the nature and purpose of marriage as God designed it. Marriage as God designed it, will be the only foundation upon which a society will flourish. The value of such a relationship lies in a personal understanding and acceptance of God’s intent for marriage and the value of a covenant. Whereas a contract is based on rights and responsibilities and is motivated by self-centeredness; a covenant is based on unconditional love which comes from God and can only be empowered by God’s presence in your marriage.”

Covenant Marriage Movement at North River
North River is committed to a biblical perspective called Covenant Marriage. This simply means that as a church and as families we remember and acknowledge the plan of God for marriage as it was designed. In Genesis 2:23 we see that God marks the beginning of the family as He intended. In this passage, Eve completes Adam as she is presented to him as his permanent mate. She is the solution to the problem defined by God when He said, "It is not good for the man to be alone."
A Christ centered marriage has the ability to become a reflection of the image of God’s character [Genesis 1:26-27.] This was God’s beautiful design.
At first Adam and Eve literally had a perfect relationship. But soon enough, in Genesis 3, sin crept into their lives and caused them to have to work harder at everything. Because sin is now a part of life, even our most natural relationships require hard work. Marriage especially requires an intentional commitment from both partners to see the relationship through, a commitment known as a covenant. This covenant is designed by God and is intended for life as we choose live in relationship with God as the center of our marriage.
Our culture has specifically lost sight of God’s design. A world without knowledge of God can have little knowledge of what God designed to be beautiful.
Therefore, at NRCC, we celebrate marriage and honor God by joining together as one body to affirm our relationship before Him as husband and wife, committing our vows of faithfulness and honor to one another until death.
NRCC is committed to developing strong marriage relationships from the very start by helping to lay a solid foundation in the marriage planning stage. In part, to accomplish this, we have decided to provide and perform marriage ceremonies only to those couples who agree to the following marriage preparation commitments.
