Discipleship Ministries at North River

At NRCC discipleship is not a program, it is the specific purpose of everything we undertake. Our working definition of a disciple of Jesus Christ is this:

Someone who understands that a genuine relationship with Jesus means
being called to walk with Christ, equipped to live like Christ,
and sent to work for Christ. (2 Tim 3:15-17)

Therefore, every study we undertake, every gathering we utilize is designed, in some way, to contribute to the spiritual development of all participants into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. Our goal is to create an atmosphere of both learning and experience where the transformation of heart, soul, mind, and strength can take place in those who have chosen to follow Jesus Christ.

At the core we want all we encounter to develop a clear understanding of who they are in Christ and what difference that should make in daily life. In other words, we want them to know what they believe and why they believe it.

Toward this end we utilize:

• Small group studies
• Preaching and teaching
• Ongoing one to one mentoring relationships
• Practical counseling and encouragement
• Training and encouraging in the development of
  personal habits of specific spiritual disciplines
