North River In Perspective

North River Christian Church was established in April of 1982 as the daughter congregation of Hickory Valley Christian Church, located on the south side of the Tennessee River. Our desire was to plant an Independent Christian church in the Chattanooga area north of the Tennessee River.

Our first worship service was held in rented office space on Highway 153. Our current worship facility was completed and dedicated in March of 1984. Since that time, we have witnessed many significant accomplishments before the Lord.

Our congregation is part of the fellowship of independent Christian Churches/ instrumental Churches of Christ, which numbers over 5,000 congregations with over 1,000,000 member’s nation wide.

North River Christian Church is committed to the vision of restoring the faith and practice of the local church to the same example of faith and practice as demonstrated in the New Testament Church. The Word of God, the Bible, is our final authority in seeking that restoration.

We do not provide or promote a “creedal statement” of belief. As stated in the above paragraph, we accept the Word of God as our final authority (“creed”) in all matters. In our acceptance of the teaching of scripture we seek unity among all believers in Jesus Christ in those matters identified as essential to our being saved and having a close personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

We sincerely invite you to come study God’s Word with us. We are a family oriented body, seeking to grow in faith and earnestly desire to obey what we learn. That desire is teaching us to make the most of every opportunity in the world around us.

Come learn the heart of God with us!
